D3baseball.com tabs Groff as Preseason All-American

GAMBIER, Ohio — With the calendar turned to 2024 and baseball season on the horizon, D3baseball.com released its 2024 Preseason All-America Team. Kenyon College’s Edwin Groff was included amongst the Division III preseason All-Americans, who were chosen from previous years’ All-American and All-Region nominations.

Groff was named to the 2024 Preseason All-America Second Team, one of three preseason teams named by D3baseball.com. He made a return to the squad after earning a spot on the organization’s 2023 All-America Second Team. The junior slotted into the designated hitter spot, serving as one of the three representatives for the position that includes one DH on each of the three preseason teams.

Groff bolstered the Owls from the batter’s box in 2023 when he led Kenyon in many offensive categories. During his sophomore season, Groff paced Kenyon in batting average (.443), OPS (1.198), at-bats (140), hits (62), doubles (16), total bases (101), and slugging percentage (.721). Additionally, he tied for the team lead with four triples and finished second in runs (38), RBIs (38), home runs (5), and on-base percentage (.477).

In addition to becoming the second All-American in Kenyon baseball history, Groff was named to two All-Region teams and earned a spot on the All-North Coast Athletic Conference First Team. Regionally, he appeared on D3baseball.com’s All-Region First Team and the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings All-Region Second Team.

Groff and the Owls will look to continue their 2023 success in 2024 when Kenyon commences its season with a three-game slate in Berea, Kentucky, from February 17-18.
