Jackets open LCL play against Johnstown
Two weeks ago Ryan Sager rushed for 7 touchdowns in Johnstown’s win at Centerburg but last week the Johnnies were stymied in a 33-14 loss to unbeaten Granville. After Johnstown took a 6-0 lead the Blue Aces rattled off 33 straight points in the victory. Kyle Kirby rushed for 165 yards and 4 touchdowns in the win for Granville. Sager rushed for 114 yards on 21 carries and Luke Carter threw for 80 yards and ran for 84 yards. The Jackets come in 1-2 off a heartbreaking road loss to Delaware Hayes where they held a 20 point lead in a 41-34 loss on the road. Mason Richards ran for 222 yards and 5 touchdowns as his impressive season continues. Jake Hubbard rushed for 64 in the loss. The Jackets lost 41-0 to the Johnnies last year.

Fredericktown at Cardington Lincoln
The KMAC kicks off with a great game Friday Night in Cardington as the Pirates host the Freddies. Fredericktown is 3-0 for the first time in 11 years and quarterback Blake Sipes as totaled 10 touchdowns to open the season. He has a number of weapons including Brode Davis who has totaled 314 yards between rushing and receiving and has scored 5 touchdowns. He also leads the KMAC in yards per carry. Davis also leads the KMAC in interceptions and is the top punt returner in the conference. Coach Spitler wants to see his team start faster and they will have their hands full Friday Night. The reigning KMAC player of the year Wyatt Denney leads the conference in rushing with 588 yards and is tied with Sipes in rushing touchdowns to lead the conference with 6. Gavin Toombs is tops in the KMAC in sacks and the Freddies will need him to slow down Denney who rushed for 252 yards and 3 touchdowns in a win last week. The Pirates quarterback Josh Goers ran for 145 yards and 3 touchdowns in the win last week as well. Goers has 5 rushing scores and averages 9.2 yards a carry for the Pirates. Cardington Head Coach Ryan Goetzman has great respect for Fredericktown while also knowing the weapons he has.

Centerburg at Northmor
Centerburg bounced back in a big way off their first loss of the season with a 53-14 win at Worthington Christian last week. The Trojans scored 35 unanswered points in the second half. Quarterback Blane Ball ran for 127 yards and 2 touchdowns and threw for 177 yards and three touchdowns in the Trojans win. Miles Marshall rushed for 76 yards and 2 touchdowns and had 2 other touchdowns receiving with 94 yards. Centerburg has the second best rushing attack in the KMAC by yards per carry while Northmor’s defense allows less than 5 yards per carry. Northmor is coming off their first loss of the year, a 19-13 defeat at North Union. Northmor quarterback Tanner Miley has thrown for 415 yards and 5 touchdowns. Connor Stockdale is a weapon outside and is second in the conference in touchdown catches with 3 and averages 83 yards receiving a game. Defensively Garrett Deisch leads the KMAC in tackles at 48.
Danville plays at Mount Gilead
The Mount Gilead defense has been proficient at stopping the run this season and Friday night they’ll try to slow down one of the top rushers in the KMAC. The Indians are unbeaten at 3-0 and are coming off a 21-7 win over Grove City Christian last week. Quarterback Cole Fricke threw a 51 yard touchdown pass to Hayden Somerlot in the win. Running back Carson Barnum added a touchdown run. Fricke also added a touchdown run in the win. Fricke has thrown for 169 yards and 1 touchdown. Barnum is second in the KMAC in rushing and averages 191 yards a game, good for second in the KMAC. He’s also second in the KMAC in rushing touchdowns with 5. The Indians have the top two players in tackles for loss in the KMAC in Cody Meimer and Cooper Nelson with 10 and 8 respectively.
Danville is coming off an impressive come from behind win over Lucas 26-14 last week. They’ll face a tough run defense but ran for 252 yards in the win last week. Cyren Wallace ran for 203 yards and 2 touchdowns in the win. He had a 59 yard touchdown run. Briggs Wallace then scored to tie the game at 14. Cyren Wallace ran one in from 57 yards out and Chris Mosher added a touchdown run. Wallace averages 159 yards rushing a game a game and is tied for second in rushing touchdowns with 5. The Blue Devils last loss to the Indians was in 2019.
East Knox Host Loudonville
The East Knox Bulldogs season has not come down to wins and losses as one of the team’s captain’s battles cancer but the Bulldogs are looking to pick up their first win of the season as they open up KMAC play against the Redbirds Friday Night. This game will feature the league’s most prolific offense in Loudonville with East Knox at the bottom of the league in offensive stats after a slow start. The Bulldogs are coming off a 42-18 loss to Colonel Crawford. The Bulldogs do have the KMAC’s leading passer in Jax Lester at 633 yards this season and tied for first in the KMAC with 7 touchdown tosses. The Bulldogs also have 4 capable receivers who have combined for 613 yards receiving this year. They also have two of the top three players in tackles in the league.
Loudonville lost to Hillsdale last week to fall to 2-1. The Redbirds offense didn’t get going as they averaged over 350 yards in their wins and only mustered 108 yards on 29 carries last week. Chase Wright tossed for 41 yards in the loss. He has thrown for 155 yards this season. The Redbirds have two of the best rushers in the conference in Josiah Hershberger and Collin Caley who each average over ten yards a carry and combined for 6 touchdowns.
