Centerburg’s Jackson and Mead sign to run in College, run in KMAC meet

On Tuesday in Centerburg, two High School Senior runners signed their letter of intent to run in college.

Ethan Jackson signed to run track and cross country at Mount Vernon Nazarene University. Jackson. who owns a 3.2GPA, is part of teams that own the school record in cross country and part of a 4 by 8 team that also owns the school record in track.

Jackson said he chose MVNU because it’s close to home and they have a great running program and a great academic program and some of his old teammates are there and it is a Christian college and that was important to him. He will major in Mechanical Engineering and Math. Jackson’s freshman year his team went to States. This past year he ran a 16:29 at Fredericktown. His Junior year the 4 by 800 team broke the team record.

Marin Mead has signed to run track at Ohio Northern. He said he has family in the area, he likes the program and coaches and they have a good sprint program. He is undecided on his major. Mead said some highlights were all the memories with his team and breaking out his Junior Year and said he was happy he joined his Sophomore Year. He said going forward Mead wants to compete and survive in advance as the season gets into Districts.

At the KMAC meet on Tuesday Mead finished 5th in the 100 meter dash at 11.64 seconds. Northmor’s Cowin Becker won the event with a time of 11.34 seconds. Jackson’s 4×800 team finished 6th and Jackson was 5th in the 3200. Will Baker of Mount Gilead won the event.
