The Mount Vernon Yellow Jackets dropped to 0-2 as they fell in their Home Opener Friday 36-14 against the Newark Wildcats. Wildcats quarterback Bodie Smith threw three touchdown passes to Drayson Peterson as the Wildcats start 2-0 for the second consecutive season. Kolton Peterson added two TD runs.
Smith threw for 311 yards, and Drayson Peterson grabbed nine passes for 261 yards. Kolton Peterson ran for 127 yards on 19 carries, and Sean Brechbill added a 35-yard field goal.
The East Knox Bulldogs got 208 rushing yards and a rushing score from Blake Elliott in a 25-12 win over Wynford. Jaxon Lester had a 2 yard touchdown run, he added a 61 yard touchdown pass and interception return for a score in the Bulldogs win. East Knox totaled 443 yards of offense and were 8-12 on third down in the win.
Fredericktown Freddies got five scores from Blake Sipes (3 passing, 2 rushing) and 475 total yards from the Junior Quarterback in the Freddies loss 19-16 to the Northridge Vikings. Gavin Toombs had 75 yards receiving and a score and Elijah Roush added 139 yards on the ground with 2 rushing scores.
Danville rushed for three touchdowns in a 24-14 win over Utica. The Blue Devils outscored the Redskins 16-0 in the third quarter. Aiden Burke ran for 160 yards and a touchdown, the Blue Devils had 3 rushing scores in the win.
Blane Ball threw for three touchdowns in Centerburg’s road loss 35-21 at Ontario. The Warriors led by Ohio State Wide Receiver commitment Bodpegn Miller overpowered the Trojans in the fourth quarter. Miller finished with 3 touchdown passes all in the fourth quarter in the win.
