Work continues on Founders Food Hall in Mount Vernon

Work continues on the former Mount Vernon News Building on 18 East Vine Street to convert the space to Founders Food Hall where 8 kitchens and a bar will take over the area. Construction is going very well according to Knox Area Development Foundation President Sam Filkens. Construction is set to be completed by the end of November or beginning of December. The ADF will then giving their operaters a couple months to get their health licenses. Scheduled opening date is early February.

The Food Hall will be 8 different restaurants in one. It will not mimic a mall food court but will be a variety of food options for you to try and will have space to sit. The people the ADF has talked to will be there permanant it is not a food truck and they come with new concepts. The restaurants will lease the space from the land bank and all the restaurants will go by the same hours. Once some costs figures are determined this week the hope according to Filkens is to have some signed contracts here soon.

Founders Food Hall will bring new energy and foot traffic to downtown Mount Vernon, creating
a hub of culinary innovation and community gathering,” said Sam Filkins, President for ADF.
