As hunting season approaches, Knox County Wildlife Officer Austin Levering highlights the critical importance of hunter education. Recently, on “AM Knox County Monday with Tyler Mathias,” Levering discussed an upcoming event designed to promote safe and responsible hunting practices. In partnership with the National Shooting Sports Foundation, the Ohio Division of Wildlife will host a Free Range Day at the Delaware Wildlife Area on August 17th. This event will provide invaluable hands-on firearm training from certified instructors, focusing on improving shooting skills and safety knowledge.
Levering also pointed out the extensive hunter education programs that are available, emphasizing their role in fostering legal and ethical hunting practices. These programs, essential for both novice and seasoned hunters, cover a broad range of topics, including wildlife management and conservation ethics. By participating, hunters not only enhance their skills but also contribute to wildlife conservation, ensuring they partake in environmentally conscious and sustainable hunting activities.
