Tornado strikes Knox County Wednesday

Storm season continues throughout the Buckeye State and Knox County was struck by severe weather Wednesday Night. A tornado was confirmed in southeast Knox County. Sycamore Road was closed due to a downed tree as a result of the storm. A barn was damaged in Mount Vernon. According to AccuWeather, a tornado was spotted over Centerburg, 11 miles southwest of Mount Vernon, at 8:29 p.m. Knox County suffered the brunt of the storms, remaining under a tornado warning for nearly two hours. 

Those in Centerburg took shelter as sirens were heard throughout the village. A roof was reported off a barn between Mink Street and Brandon. Others reported a foot of water in Mount Vernon. Power Lines were reported down at Reynolds Road in Centerburg.

A reminder if you encounter a flooded roadway turn around and do not try to drive through it.
