“Sophia Zoldak Earns Appointment to the United States Air Force Academy”

Sophia Zoldak, a recent Mount Vernon High School graduate in
2023 and cadet in Knox County Career Center’s (KCCC) Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps
(JROTC) program, has been appointed to the United State Air Force Academy in Colorado
Springs, Colorado by the United State Air Force and the United States Space Force.


The Air Force Academy accepts only the best of the best. There were over 10,000
applicants this year and only 1,250 were appointed to enter the academy.


Sophia Zoldak is the first student in KCCC’s JROTC program to be appointed a cadet in
the United States Air Force Academy.


Message from the Air Force Academy on Sophia Zoldak: “Sophia’s record truly shined
with her leadership on her cross country team as well as her dedication to learning, witnessed
through her self study of foreign languages, such as Korean and Russian. Sophia is truly ready
to start her path to joining the long blue line, becoming a leader in the world’s greatest air and
space force, the United State Air Force and United State Space Force.”
