Shannon sentenced on Drugs and Weapons charges in Knox County

Joshua Shannon, 43, formerly of Mount Vernon, was sentenced to a 5-6 year prison term for possession of an ounce of meth and a loaded pistol. In September of 2023, he was found passed out on a Mount Vernon street and officers discovered the gun and drugs. After posting a bond and absconding, Shannon was brought back from jail in Purgatory, Utah to face the charges. As part of his sentence, Shannon was ordered to pay the $3886 cost of his transport. He forfeited $1252 that was in his possession and a 45 caliber pistol to the Mount Vernon Police Department.
