Ohio State Highway Patrol Mount Gilead PostTrooper of the Year

Mount Gilead – Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Richard J. Tocash has been selected2025 Trooper of the Year at the Mount Gilead Post.

The selection of Trooper Tocash is in recognition of outstanding service during 2025 at the Mount Gilead Post. Fellow officers stationed at the Mount Gilead Post, chose Trooper Tocash based on leadership abilities, professional ethics, courteous treatment of others, enthusiastic work attitude, and cooperation with supervisors, peers, and the public.

Trooper Tocash is now in contention for the District and State Trooper of the Year Awardto be announced at a later date.

Trooper Tocash joined the Highway Patrol in 2001 and has served at the Mount GileadPost, Division SRT, and Capital Operations. Originally from Columbus and a graduate of Coshocton High School. In addition to his service with the Highway Patrol, Trooper Tocash served in the U. S. Army for four years and the Ohio National Guard for 17 years. Trooper Tocash and his wife, Carey live in Sparta and have three daughters.
