Ohio Eastern Home CEO excited about Pine Hill Independent Senior Living potential

Back on March 24th the Ohio Eastern Star Home broke ground on a 25 million dollar project. The 96-unit community will be located on 60 acres just north of the non-profit’s main facility, at the intersection of Eastern Star Road and New Gambier Road on Mount Vernon’s east end. Michele Engelbach is the company’s CEO and she says this was a vision that was ten years in the making to grow and expand the campus to fulfill the needs of the elders in Knox County. She also said after doing research that there is not a lot of independent Senior Living facilities in Knox County.

Engelbach says they have been working on this for many years and Covid put a halt on it but that the vision is now becoming a reality. She says they chose this name because of the geography of being on the hill and having the pine trees around the property.

The work on the project has started and all the site work is almost finished and Engelbach says they believe they are going to start the actual buildings in July of this year. Footers will be poured and foundations being built. The first phase of the apartment buildings is set to be completed by fall of next year. She also says over 50 percent of the companies that bid for the next part of the project are local companies.
