National Physical Fitness and Sports Month

 Every president since 1983 has proclaimed May as National Physical Fitness and Sports Month to promote the importance of physical activity, physical fitness, and sports participation.

There are many ways to become physically active which can improve our physical and mental health. Some benefits can be achieved immediately, like improved blood pressure and reduced anxiety – while other benefits are the result of making physical activity a regular part of your routine. The key to a successful fitness program is consistency and making exercise fun!

Walking is the best way to start improving your health. You can start even in your own home by doing yard work, washing your car by hand, working around the house, and more. Instead of sitting down to watch TV after dinner, take a 30-minute walk with your family.
