MVMAF Challenge returns; seeking crafters

The Mount Vernon Music and Arts Festival Challenge returns for 2022.

This year, the focus is on wood and chairs. Wood, just like in 2021, is from the harvested trees from the Public Square in downtown Mount Vernon. Artists are welcome to take the wood they want but must use the wood they take, or Artists choose any of the provided chairs to repurpose.

“The enthusiasm for the 2021 Challenge was contagious,” said MVMAF co-director Joseph Bell. “Both crafters and festival guests were excited to be involved in such a great community activity.”

The 2022 Challenge focus is Children’s Toys. Wood workers are encouraged to develop projects for children but are not required.

All participants must pre-register for this activity by filling out the Google Doc linked on the MVMAF Facebook page. Materials will be available Sunday, May 1.

All items created will be auctioned off on Saturday evening, August 13 at this year’s MVMAF, with 50% of the proceeds going to the artist and 50% to the festival.
