MS. WHEELCHAIR OHIO CROWNING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio – The Ms. Wheelchair Ohio Organization (MWOH) will be hosting their
annual state competition in Mount Vernon for the second year in a row. The crowning ceremony is
scheduled for Sunday, March 12, 2023, at 5 PM in the banquet hall at the Mount Vernon Grand Hotel.
Doors will open to the public at 4:30 PM and have no entry fee. During the ceremony, competitors will
give speeches on their chosen platform, the current titleholder will bid farewell, and Ms. Wheelchair
Ohio 2023 will be crowned. Columbus’s Power 106.3 & 107.5 and Cincinnati’s The Wiz radio
personality, Justin Luvv, will be the Master of Ceremonies.

MWOH is an advocacy- and education-based organization that raises awareness about disabilities, the
barriers people with disabilities face, and the accomplishments of women wheelchair users. This is not a
beauty pageant. Instead, it is a competition to select the most qualified candidate to represent and
advocate for the disability community in Ohio. The new titleholder will travel and share her passions
with businesses, government officials, and the general public across the state. Then, she will have the
opportunity to attend the national competition in August and compete for the title of Ms. Wheelchair
America. The women not awarded the title of Ms. Wheelchair Ohio 2023 will become MWOH
ambassadors.

The four contestants are Kelly Berger of Cincinnati, Allison Boot of Beavercreek, Elizabeth Brassell of
Wickliffe, and Breanna Hayes of Mount Vernon. Three judges will evaluate these women based on their
accomplishments, communication skills, and self-perception during their private interviews, platform
speech presentations, and on-stage questions. During the day, the competitors will also attend
educational workshops about the first Ms. Wheelchair Ohio/Ms. Wheelchair America representative, a
former titleholder’s reign, and goalsetting to assist in their advocacy journeys.

Ms. Wheelchair Ohio 2022, Krista Allison of Berea, will pass on her crown but remain involved in the
organization as a co-ambassador coordinator. As such, she will help mentor future advocates by hosting
monthly virtual workshops for MWOH’s ambassadors to better their skills and compete in future events.
Please join us to congratulate all the women involved in the Ms. Wheelchair Ohio 2023 competition!
