Three Knox County agencies have received grants totaling $8,500 from Mount Vernon
Elk’s Lodge #140, according to Sandra Dick, Esteemed Leading Knight and Grants
Coordinator.
A grant of $2,500.00 was awarded to PAK United (Police and Kids United) for their
program to interact with children in the community. Activities covered by the grant
include fishing, metal detecting, bike safety, attendance at college level athletic events,
movies at Woodward Opera House and such things as community festivals.
Salvation Army
A $3,000.00 grant was received by the Salvation Army to be used to care for children in
their after-school program known as “Learning Zone.”
FOP
A grant of $3,000.00 was awarded to the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Lodge 147 for
their “Shop With A Cop” program. A growing program, serving more children, will be
used towards purchasing vital necessities and other items, for children, during the
holiday season. Through programs such as “Shop with a Cop”, FOP is working to build
a more positive relationship between law enforcement and the community.
