More information released on Double Homicide in Mount Vernon, Suspect to be arraigned later this month

We now know more about a double murder that happened on 105 South Gay Street in the City of Mount Vernon in August, those the brutal killings allegedly were committed by one Cameron Moore. According to authorities, Mr. Moore is accused of using a baseball bat to purposefully end the lives of two individuals. The crime scene, described as disturbing and sickening by officials, stands as a grim testament to the severity of the act. Law enforcement officials frequently visit such scenes to gather detailed understanding for potential trials, emphasizing the gruesome nature of this particular case.

Law enforcement is still withholding the victims names in this case due to Marsy’s Law.

On August 14th, 2024 at approximately 10:02 PM officers of the Mount Vernon Police  Department responded to an apartment building at 105 South Gay Street on a requested welfare check on the residence.

Upon their arrival the officers made contact with the reporting persons. When the officers entered the apartment two adult victims, one male and one female, were located dead inside.

The building was then secured as a crime scene.

Detectives from the Mount Vernon Police Department were called to the scene, along with investigators from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI), the Knox County Coroner’s Office and the Knox County Prosecutor’s Office.

23 year old Cameron Moore is facing a charge of aggravated murder and a charge of murder with death penalty specifications. A second person could be charged in the crime as well but has not officially at this time.
