Lacey Filkins named Executive Director of Experience Mount Vernon

The Experience Mount Vernon Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of
Lacey Filkins to the role of Executive Director, effective October 31.

Filkins currently serves as a Legal Assistant and the Marketing Manager for Kidwell &
Cunningham and Owl Creek Title Agency after working as the Director of First-Year Experience
and Student Success at Kenyon College for seven years.

“We look forward to utilizing Lacey’s skills in community-building, marketing, and event
coordination to continue to grow the Experience Mount Vernon brand and build upon the solid
foundation laid by Anthony McNeal,” said Todd Taylor, Experience Mount Vernon Board
President.

McNeal, who assumed oversight of Experience Mount Vernon, formerly known as Main Street
Mount Vernon, in February 2020, will be transitioning out of the role on November 18th.
“We have appreciated all of the work Anthony has done over the last two and half years to grow
and streamline the work of Experience Mount Vernon, even amidst the significant challenges of
COVID-19,” said Taylor, “he will be missed.”

“I believe a vibrant downtown is a powerful force in building and sustaining a dynamic
community,” said Filkins. “As a resident of Knox County for nearly ten years, I have been
fortunate to witness and celebrate the economic and community growth downtown has seen. I
am excited about the opportunity to take a more active role in the advancement of our
community through further enhancing downtown Mount Vernon.”

Filkins grew up in West Salem, Ohio, and moved to Knox County in May 2013 after the
completion of her masters degree to work for Kenyon College. She currently lives in Mount
Vernon with her husband and young son.
