The Woodward Opera House is opening its stage to performers and community members alike during a special Open Mic Night on Thursday, June 4, at 7 p.m.
Hosted by local musicians Nellie Six and Side Effects, the free event is designed to bring together artists, performers, and supporters of the arts for an evening focused on creativity, encouragement, and community connection.
This open mic event welcomes performers of all experience levels and artistic backgrounds. Musicians, poets, comedians, storytellers, spoken word artists, magicians, and other creative talents are encouraged to participate. First-time performers are especially welcome, with organizers emphasizing that the event is intended to be a supportive and welcoming environment.
Participants can choose to perform solo, singer-songwriter style, with a small group, or with backing from the event’s open jam band.
Sign-ups for performers begin at 5:30 p.m., with bar service available from 6 to 9 p.m. throughout the evening.
The event aims to continue the spirit of Mount Vernon’s growing open mic community while giving local artists an opportunity to share their talents on the historic Woodward Opera House stage. Even those not interested in performing are encouraged to attend, discover local talent, and support area artists.
The event is free and open to the public. Open Mic Night is sponsored by Bickerdyke Table & Tap and will take place at the Woodward Opera House in downtown Mount Vernon.
