Fredericktown Local Schools Superintendent Gary Chapman:
-The Freddies Cross Country has to suspend their signature race the Denny Stevens Invitational at the Kokosing as the Army Corp has come in to do construction so that site is unavailable. They are continuing to work on the schedule and they are scheduled to host the KMAC Meet.
- The Bus Garage work is nearly complete as they wait on an electric review. Some paving also going on and hope is it wraps up by October 1st.
- The Elementary also changed their pick up and drop off some
- Fredericktown also encouraged fans to wear purple at their game this past Friday Night to support East Knox Student Aiden Riggle
Centerburg Local Schools Superintendent Ryan Gallwitz:
- Centerburg spent over a half million dollars to pay for improvements to the parking lots and drop off and pick up at Centerburg Elementary. Pick up was backed up quite a bit in the early part of the year and Centerburg made adjustments to pick up times. Gallwitz says you should show up at 3pm to help with flow.
- Centerburg raised money for the family of Aiden Riggle and will be doing a 50-50 this Friday night in their game against Johnstown
- Centerburg is also working on a baseball field at the location at the High School on Columbus Road. They will be building a new field at the High School right behind the softball field. 75,000 dollars has already been raised by the Diamond Club. Gallwitz is also requesting 75,000 dollars in funding. They will also update electric and a water well. Gallwitz also said the infrastructure is there to eventually move the football field over there. He says he told the board that the school has to continue working on updating facilities.
East Knox Local School Superindent Rich Baird:
-East Knox has 21 new staff members this year
- A new railing has been installed by football field and painted the field posts
- Volleyball home game September 4th EK will have a bake sale fundraiser for Aiden Riggle
- Baird commended the support the county schools have done and given to the Riggle family
- Baird says they make sure the kids are supported when a classmate has a medical diagnosis like he has
- Work continues on the strategic plan
- Second Thursday of every month is the school board meeting except it will be the third Thursday in October
- East Knox is launching their new website this week with the same web address which also includes an apps option
- East Knox has a new Athletic Director Bailey Sprague. New High School Principal is Shannon Sprague. Tyler Guilliams is now the assistant principal.
Danville Local School Superintendent Jason Snively:
- Danville new turf field. Community paid for this project along with businesses. Adding 70 parking spots east of the High School
- 9 new teachers this year
- Jill Lyons is the new Athletic Director. She is the first full time Athletic Director in Danville’s History. Lyons was a teacher and softball coach. Devani Adam moves to Dean of Students. She works with scheduling and master scheduling
- Danville will be playing Utica at home Friday and they will take donations at the gate to support the family of Aiden Riggle
Mount Vernon City School Superintendent Bill Seder:
- Theme this year is “building our future one student at a time”
- Open up their revamped gymnasium with Volleyball tonight
- Brand new floor, new scoreboard and new sound system
- School Board meetings have been moved to 5pm instead of 6pm and looking at a third Monday of the month to stay
- Looking at working on a District Tax Policy
