Knox County Foundation offers Charitable University to strengthen area nonprofit leadership

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio – Knox County Foundation will host two non-profit board member trainings through the Ohio Attorney General’s Office this November. The training, titled Charitable University, focuses on putting tools in the hands of charitable board members and key leaders so they can govern their organizations with maximum effectiveness for impact.

“We are excited to partner with the Ohio Attorney General’s office to bring Charitable University to Knox County. This training will cover a broad range of topics related to serving on a nonprofit board and will be beneficial to current, new and prospective board members as well as nonprofit leadership staff,” stated Program Director Lisa Lloyd.

Charitable University provides guidance on board governance and policies, financial reporting and internal controls, fundraising issues, government filings and recordkeeping, and charitable gaming and bingo—all of the basics needed to protect the valuable resources entrusted to nonprofit organizations to make a difference.

“We are always looking for opportunities to support our nonprofit partners and ensure they have the tools and resources needed to drive their mission forward in the most effective way,” said Lloyd. “Having board members and charitable leaders who understand the intricacies of board service is one of the best ‘tools’ for all nonprofits.”

Those who participate in the training will receive Charitable University completion certificates from the Ohio Attorney General’s Office and will be listed on the AG’s web page with others who make this training investment throughout the state.
