Keesee post bond, released from jail pending trial

On Thursday in Knox County Common Pleas Court Gary Thomas Keesee’s attorney Sam Shamansky argued to lower Keesee’s two million dollar bond to assist in his own defense ahead of his November 18th trial. Keesee has been in jail since the Friday before Easter and is facing nearly thirty counts of rape. Judge Richard Wetzel agreed to reduce the bond to one million dollars with the ten percent provision. Keesee posted the bond on Thursday and is free as of Thursday.

Other conditions were also put in place by the judge including Keesee depositing 1,500 dollars cash to the clerk’s office for an electronic monitoring device before he was released. Additionally Keesee’s driver license was suspended and he must surrender it and his passport. He was also ordered to not have any contact with any victims.

He faces dozens of charges of rape, gross sexual imposition, and sexual conduct with a minor in connection with victims who were also members of the Faith Life Church in New Albany. Prosecutors have said there is no evidence the abuse occurred on church premises.

He was a former leader of the church and his parents Gary and Drenda Keesee are the founders and leaders of the church. Drenda is also a Knox County Commissioner.
