Knox County Career Center students in Landscape Design and Management earned multiple top‑25 finishes at the National Collegiate Landscape Competition, held March 18–21 at Michigan State University. KCCC was one of only two high schools competing among more than 50 colleges and universities and over 700 students.
Seven students represented the program across 11 events, including plant identification, equipment operation, cost estimating, irrigation assembly, and hardscape installation. Kyra Carpenter and Weston Bostic placed ninth out of 39 teams in Hardscape Installation. Bostic also finished 14th in Compact Track/Skid Steer Loader Operation, while Charley Beheler and Hudson Henry placed 22nd in Truck and Trailer Operation.
Landscape Design and Management instructor John Campbell said the students performed at a high level and represented the program well.
The National Collegiate Landscape Competition is hosted by the National Association of Landscape Professionals and is considered a career‑launching event for students entering the landscape industry. The four‑day competition brings together students, faculty, and employers for hands‑on contests, workshops, a career fair, and networking opportunities.
