“KCCC Students Excel at SkillsUSA State Competition”

Mount Vernon, OH – The SkillsUSA State Competition was held in Columbus, Ohio on
March 18th & 19th at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.


The SkillsUSA State Competition brings over 5,000 competitors, business and industry
partners, instructors, and vendors together in over 100 contests in all 16 Career Pathways to
showcase Career and Technical Education in Ohio.


KCCC had 17 students who competed in various SkillsUSA State competitions. Albert
Ross (Precision Machining) was awarded the Gold (1st place) in CNC Turning and advanced to
the SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference, which is held June 23-27 in Atlanta,
Georgia.


Evan Williams (Precision Machining) was awarded the Bronze (3rd place) in CNC
Milling. Iona Hickerson, Miracle Bartal, and Emma Seymour (all 3 in Health Technologies) were
awarded the Bronze (3rd place) in Career Pathways Showcase: Health Services. Dylan
Springer (HVAC) was awarded the Bronze (3rd place) in HVAC.


Joe LaFevre, KCCC’s SkillsUSA Co-Advisor, said, “All of our students did an excellent
job competing at the SkillsUSA State competition. I am extremely happy for Albert. He is a bright
young man who has spent a lot of time perfecting his craft with the CNC Turning competition.”
