Seven students from the Knox County Career Center Building Trades program have earned the prestigious designation of “Building Trades Elite,” recognizing their commitment to excellence both in the classroom and on the job site.
This year’s honorees include Mackenlee Fairall, Ethan Hull, Walter Greene, Johnny Bender, Gage Selby, Jason Butler, and Truman Chester. To earn the distinction, students must meet rigorous standards in attendance, discipline, industry credentialing, and extracurricular involvement.
The Building Trades Elite program was established during the 2019-2020 school year and is fully supported by industry sponsors. Since its inception, 77 Building Trades students have earned the honor.
KCCC Building Trades Instructor Joe Stallard said the program gives students a goal to work toward while helping local employers identify highly qualified future employees.
“The BT Elite program gives students something to strive for each day,” Stallard said. “Our industry partners will continue to benefit from hiring a well-rounded and industry-prepared student.”
The Knox County Career Center credits the success of the program to its partnership with local industry sponsors, including J & B Acoustical, Meade Roofing, Carpenters Local 735, Laborers Local 1216, Habitat for Humanity, Kokosing Construction, and ACP.
School officials say the recognition highlights the growing importance of career and technical education programs as demand for skilled trades workers continues to increase across Ohio and the nation.
