“KCCC Receives Silver Recognition Award from Ohio PBIS”

Mount Vernon – The Knox County Career Center (KCCC) has been recognized for its
success with Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).
PBIS involves teaching students expected behaviors in a consistent and positive way,
modeling and acknowledging those behaviors and helping students meet expectations and be
successful.

PBIS has been shown to improve student achievement, student behavior, and school
climate. In 2015, the Ohio PBIS Network first recognized schools that were model examples of
strong PBIS.

KCCC applied and earned the Silver Recognition Award for the 2023-2024 school year.
KCCC will be honored at the 2025 Showcase for AcceleratED Leadership and Learning
Conference on January 28, 2025.

“I am excited that our school has earned this award! This was our ninth year of
implementation and there are many requirements that must be met and documented to receive
this recognition from the state,” said Renee Blaney, KCCC’s District PBIS Co-Coach.
“Mrs. Blaney, Mrs. Lifer, and the PBIS Committee worked very hard at reviewing data
and then looking for ways to encourage students in the Four As: Achievement, Attendance,
Attitude, and Appearance. Their work makes a difference in our school and students,” said
Kathy Greenich, KCCC Superintendent.

The Knox County Career Center has participated in a formal PBIS program for nine
years. Monthly meetings are held to review and analyze behavioral data and to promote a
positive school climate. KCCC provides support to its students by utilizing Tier I, Tier II, and Tier

III behavioral interventions. Rewards and incentives are available to students who achieve high
levels of success in the areas of attendance, achievement, appearance, and attitude.
