Gumm to lead Esther Jetter Preschool at Mount Vernon Nazarene University

Mount Vernon Nazarene University alumna Kelly Gumm will be returning to the Esther Jetter Preschool as Preschool Director. She served as a teacher and administrator from 2011 to 2020, working with children ages 3 to 5 and supervising Education majors assigned to the school for field experience.

“We are so excited to welcome Kelly back to MVNU and the Esther Jetter Preschool. Her commitment to early education and extensive experience as both a teacher and director help make Esther Jetter a wonderful environment for young children to learn and grow,” said Jessica Grubaugh, Associate Dean for the Jetter School of Professional Studies.

Gumm has an Associate in Applied Science, Early Childhood Education from MVNU, and has earned vast experience serving as a preschool teacher and administrator since 1987.

As director, she will be responsible for all administrative duties including staffing, budget, licensure, marketing, and preschool policies. In addition, she will supervise MVNU students during their clinical/laboratory experiences as well as teach preschool classes and Summer Quests.

The Esther Jetter Preschool serves children ages 3 to 6. Every class at EJP is play-based and helps children build school readiness skills. Each child is nurtured and supported with a whole class and an individualized approach to let childrens’ talents grow and to develop skills that will prepare them for kindergarten. EJP’s unique role as a lab school for MVNU’s Education Department offers low ratio classes and the most current and effective educational practices for preschoolers.
