Golfers earn top team academic award from GCAA

NORMAN, Okla. – A day after honoring the academic achievements of individual golfers, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) released Thursday its list of 2022-23 team academic award winners. The Kenyon College Owls were not only included among the winners of the All-Academic Team Award, but also earned GCAA Presidents Special Recognition.

To be eligible for the GCAA All-Academic Team honor, a college or university had to submit the grade point averages for each golfer on its official roster. The team’s combined grade point average had to be 3.00 or better.

While there were 39 NCAA Division III men’s golf programs that earned the All-Academic Team Award, there were only 11, including Kenyon, that earned Presidents Special Recognition for having a team grade point average of 3.50 or better.

Kenyon had seven players on its 2022-23 roster and together they combined for a 3.59 grade point average for the season.

The All-Academic Team Award was the Owls’ 10th in as many years, while the team earned the Presidents Special Recognition for the fourth consecutive season.
