Food For The Hungry offers Summer Grant opportunities for Summer distribution programs

MOUNT VERNON — The Food For The Hungry board has announced a Summer grant opportunity directed to reach churches, agencies, and organizations that provide summer food distribution programs to fill the gap for families with children home from school. Because the funds raised exceeded the FFTH 2022 goal of $250,000, the board designated $40,000 of the excess funds for the Summer grants.

“Many in our community worry about how they are going to put food on the table for their children during the Summer months, but thankfully the love and selflessness of Knox County provides a way to negate that worry. Food For The Hungry is once again honored to be able to offer these grants because of this generosity.” Executive Director, Lisa Mazzari.

Organizations may apply for grants for programs that will provide food assistance and distribution through Sept 30, 2023. Priority will be given to programs that assist minors who rely on meals provided by schools during the school year. Groups that provide assistance outside the traditional Mid-Ohio Food Collective income guidelines are strongly encouraged to apply. An online application is available at FoodForTheHungryCares.org. The application process is open from Monday, May 1, through Saturday, May 13, at 12 p.m. Awards will be announced on Wednesday, June 7.

For more information or assistance on the grant application and process, please contact Food for the Hungry Executive Director, Lisa Mazzari at 740-398-0569 or Lisam.ffth@gmail.com.
