First Quarter 2024 Sunflower and Daisy Award Honorees

KCH is proud to announce its two Daisy Award Winners for the first quarter of 2024. Amanda Wells, RN and Stroke Program Coordinator, received the Daisy Nurse Leader Award. One of Amanda’s co-workers stated, “Amanda is enthusiastic about her job and always pushes herself to learn more and do more. She is a huge asset to KCH. Her outgoing personality that shines through in everything she does. Amanda makes learning fun, whether teaching a class, in service, or in a huddle. A hard worker, she’s creative and goes above and beyond to make KCH and our community a better place. She is a true team player!”

The second Daisy Award Winner is Kyra Lepley, an RN on the 6th floor. One of her patients explained, “Kyra is a gem who will become one of KCH’s greatest assets, given the opportunity and support. She shared with me that she was a new grad and had a lot to learn. However, the thoroughness and compassion she demonstrates at the bedside are not learned. They are character strengths that will serve her well as she grows as a nurse. I felt safe under her watchful eye. She is a keeper!”

The Sunflower Committee congratulates the first quarter Sunflower Award Honoree Robyn Moss, a PCA on the 6th floor, nominated by four patients. One of the former patients wrote, “Robyn was as pleasant as she could be. She always has a smile on her face and a kind word. Robyn was very efficient in her duties, always one step ahead of my needs. Her professionalism was astounding. She always knew what her tasks entailed and accomplished them with ease and confidence. It was a very pleasant experience in the worst of situations.”

The DAISY Foundation was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes after he died from complications of the auto-immune disease ITP in 1999. During his hospitalization, they deeply appreciated the care and compassion shown to Patrick and his entire family. When he died, they felt compelled to say “thank you” to nurses in a very public way. Please visit and search for Daisy or Sunflower to learn more.
