Experience Mount Vernon Announces the 2023 Walter Rudin Award Winner

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio –  The Walter Rudin Award, which is sponsored by Park National Bank, is given to an individual who has shown a long-term dedication to Downtown Mount Vernon and its community. This award acknowledges their significant contributions to both Downtown Mount Vernon and Experience Mount Vernon. By receiving this award, the 2023 Walter Rudin Award recipient will be added to the list of distinguished members of the Downtown Mount Vernon story.

This year’s recipient of the Walter Rudin Award truly embodies the spirit of the award. With a keen eye for aesthetics, Jen Odenweller has been instrumental in driving many of the recent beautification projects in Downtown Mount Vernon. In addition, they have consistently provided trusted advice for various Downtown initiatives, Experience Mount Vernon, and leadership of Mount Vernon. Jen Odenweller’s exceptional support and love for everything related to Mount Vernon is truly commendable. Congratulations to Jen Odenweller, the 2023 Walter Rudin Award Recipient.

Experience Mount Vernon gave out six additional awards at their Awards & Investor Breakfast on January 26, namely, Small Business of the Year, Mid-size Business of the Year, Large Business of the Year, Non-Profit of the Year, The Community Pride Award, and The Spirit of Heritage Award. 

The Small Business of the Year Award for 2023, sponsored by McDaniel CPA, has been presented to Baxter’s Wine & Whiskey for their consistent support of Downtown Mount Vernon programming and contribution to the same. The Mid-Size Business of the Year Award for 2023, sponsored by Freedom Fire Protection, has been awarded to The Mount Vernon Grand Hotel for their unwavering support of Experience Mount Vernon and community events. The Large Business of the Year Award for 2023, sponsored by Bo Lacey Construction, has been given to The Mount Vernon Police Department for their dedicated efforts in keeping Downtown Mount Vernon secure and for their increased participation in community events. The Non-Profit of the Year Award for 2023, sponsored by The Mount Vernon Grand Hotel, has been presented to MTVarts for their support of Experience Mount Vernon through hosting First Friday Activities and for their commitment to arts education. The Community Pride Award for 2023, sponsored by Griffin Insurance, has been awarded to The Annex, an Art Initiative by The Gund at Kenyon College, for their contribution towards enhancing access to the arts in Downtown Mount Vernon. The Spirit of Heritage Award for 2023, sponsored by Knox Community Hospital, has been presented to Ann Weisent-Page for her remarkable support of Downtown Mount Vernon through programming and collaboration.
