Eldridge due in court next week

A recent investigation in Mount Vernon has taken a dramatic turn. Police initially executed a search warrant to uncover electronic files related to child sexual abuse material. During the search, drug paraphernalia was discovered in plain view, prompting authorities to obtain a second warrant. This led to the discovery of over 100 grams of cocaine, a significant amount under Ohio law, triggering a major drug offender specification. The suspect, Aaron Eldridge, currently faces charges in municipal court, with the case expected to transfer to common pleas court following indictment. Investigations remain ongoing, highlighting the collaborative efforts between law enforcement and technology companies in combating such crimes.

Eldridge has been initially charged with Pandering Sexually Orientated Material Involving a Minor (F-2) and Trafficking in Drugs (F-1).
Further charges may be forthcoming.

Eldridge, if indicted will be charged in Common Pleas Court. He faces 2-8 years on the drug charges but Knox County Prosecutor Chip McConville says both charges are serious felonies. The 66 year old Eldridge is due in court Monday. McConville said Eldridge was someone not even on police radar before internet crimes against children notified law enforcement.
