Cougars Defeat No.9 Lourdes

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio. — The (RV) Mount Vernon Nazarene University men’s volleyball team (7-1, 6-1 WHAC) defeated No.9 Lourdes University (6-4, 4-1 WHAC) in Ariel Arena in four sets on Tuesday, February 14.

MVNU continued its outstanding start to 2023 with its fourth ranked victory of the season. After dropping the first set 22-25, MVNU took the next three by scores of 25-19, 25-21, and 25-23. The win over Lourdes is the first ever win over the Gray Wolves in program history.

Inside the Box Score

Spencer Stanley had a match-high 16 kills and a .225 hitting percentage. Stanley had eight digs.

Daniel Daly was phenomenal for MVNU, finishing the match with 15 kills and a red-hot .542 hitting percentage.

Jaysen Matsumoto led the match with 45 assists and 12 rebounds. Matsumoto had three service aces.

What’s Next

MVNU heads to Campbellsville, Kentucky on February 17 for matches against Reinhardt University and the University of the Cumberlands. Match times are at 5:00pm and 8:00pm.
