Chad Taylor sentenced for Murder in Mount Vernon

Mount Vernon, OH – Chad R. Taylor, 44, was sentenced Thursday to 15 years to life in prison for the murder of Rhonda Brennan, 43 last year. The sentencing, handed down in Knox County Common Pleas Court, concludes a harrowing case that began with a fatal stabbing on October 26th.

Details of the Crime
On the early morning of October 26th, Taylor was arrested following a stabbing incident at a residence on North Mulberry Street. The 911 call reporting the attack came in around 3:25 a.m., and responding officers discovered Brennan’s lifeless body at the scene. Taylor was apprehended a few hours later at a different location, where he was taken into custody.

Taylor enter a guilty plea on July 11th.

Sentencing Decision
In court Thursday, Judge Richard Wetzel sentenced Taylor to a minimum of 15 years to life in prison. This sentence reflects the severity of the crime and the impact on the victim’s family and community. Taylor will be eligible for parole after serving 15 years, but the final decision on his release will rest with the parole board. Taylor admitted in court that the night of the murder the couple had been fighting on and off for several weeks before it escalated that night when Taylor stabbed Brennan to death.

Knox County Prosecutor Chip McConville said that in court it was said that the victim wanted to work things out with Taylor leading up to the crime being committed.
