Centerburg and Danville Superintendents give updates on Schools

On Monday both Centerburg and Danville Superintendents gave updates on their schools

Ryan Gallwitz, Centerburg Superintendent

-Open House for Centerburg schools this year is August 14th from 6-8pm, First day of school for students is August 16th

-On the Solar Panel fire last month: Fire on the roof on the Elementary Building back in May. Gallwitz says that wiring on the solar panels was deteriorating to a point that it was shorting out and that’s what sparked the blaze. The fire on the roof was a 3 by 3 area. Working with Solar Planet is in the process of removing everything off the Elementary Building. Centerburg has an agreement with Solar Planet but discussion will be ongoing.

Admin Building was built in 1923 and where the preschool building is located. Installing split unit in each classroom. Going to use the boiler to heat during the winter. Finished up first week in August.

On a PI Levy: Requesting 2.75 mills for permanent improvement funds, those funds go toward fixing and improving items like school buses, roofs, paving and football stadium. 1.5 mills will be coming off of your taxes, for every 100,000 dollars it’s $45 on your property taxes.
