Argo, the new Knox County Sheriff’s Office Police K9, graduates from training 

Knox County-The Knox County Sheriff’s Office new K9 – Argo- and handler Rich have graduated from the K9 training school; Storm Dog Tactical, according to the Sheriff. 

Argo and Deputy Rich Wise attended weeks of classroom and field training and graduated last week. Argo and Deputy Wise are currently assigned patrol duties in the county. 

The dual-Purpose handler’s course covers topics such as case law, canine care, canine deployments, tracking, narcotics, and patrol scenario-based training. The course prepares the student for an entry-level position as a canine handler for dogs trained to work both  patrol and detection tasks in law enforcement activities. 

Storm Dog Tactical Dual-Purpose Police Canine Handler/Operator class is a 5-week program where the canine receives training in all disciplines prior to students arrival. This course will give the new team the skill set needed to manage numerous situations they may encounter while working. 

The Sheriff said, “Our vision is to enhance our program by adding enough K9s to support every shift that is working hard to keep our community and citizens safe”.
