Alleged Driver in deadly 229 crash in Knox County given Recognizance Bond in Court

31 year old Aaron Bolton of Mount Vernon was given a recognizance bond in court on Wednesday in Knox County. Bolton is facing two counts of OVI, a count of Aggravated Vehicular Homicide and a county of Aggravated Vehicular Assault.

In court his attorney, Brandon Crunkilton, asked for a jury trial and recognizance bond which the state did not have a problem with. The Judge ordered Bolton released on a recognizance bond, his driver license was suspended and Bolton was ordered to post 2,500 dollars for a SCRAM monitor within ten days of the hearing.

We spoke with Knox County Prosecutor Chip McConville about the hearing and he said law enforcement did not arrest Bolton at the time of the crash and he has proven to show up on time and that Bolton is innocent until proven guilty. If convicted Bolton would spend his time in the state prison. Tyler Schlaireth’s mom spoke at the hearing about how she spoke to her son within 35 minutes of the crash and was assured that there would be a sober driver. She said Bolton hadn’t reached out to offer condolences to the family to which Bolton’s attorney responded by saying that attorneys advise their clients to not reach out in these instances and it can come off as the attorney is the bad guy for suggesting that.
