Amber Keener, Chair of the Parks and Lands Committee for The City of Mount
Vernon, announced that Riverside Park will be seeing a new facility soon thanks to
partnerships with Ariel Corporation and the Public Library of Mount Vernon &
Knox County.
“This splash pad was a top priority in our Parks Master Plan and these two
organizations recognized a need and worked to support the project.” Keener said.
“It is inspiring to watch their commitment to the people of Mount Vernon.”
The initial designs for the Splash Pad and the Multipurpose facility were presented
at Monday evening’s City Council meeting. While there are still many steps to get
through before the project gets under way, this initial step is important in order to
share with the community what is to come.
