25th Annual ‘Go Pink for a Cure’ Raises Funds for Breast Cancer

The 25th Annual Go Pink for a Cure was sold out weeks before it was held on June 24. In various shades of pink, the 100+ participants’ camaraderie was evident as they came together to honor all those affected by breast cancer. (Participants included golfers, card players, and contributors).

With 18 golf foursomes and 28 table game players, the day was full of community, stories, and encouragement. Through donations, golfer foursomes, and themed raffle baskets, Go Pink 2023 raised $43,025 in net proceeds.  Proceeds support local patients of the Center for Cancer Care at KCH through a special fund of the Foundation for Knox Community Hospital.

Thank you to the Mount Vernon Country Club where this event was held with its consistently beautiful atmosphere and grounds, as well as impeccable service.

“It was a wonderful day of fun and great fellowship while all working toward the single goal of financially supporting women’s breast health through the Foundation for Knox Community Hospital,” said Barbara Barry, Go Pink Chair. “Our total not only reflects the monies raised the day of the event but the continued generosity of the individuals and businesses in Knox County.”

After the golf and card games were finished, the program continued with a luncheon and speeches saluting breast cancer survivors. This year’s honoree Linda Neer spoke about how this group of local women has encouraged and helped her on her journey as a survivor. President and CEO of Knox Community Hospital Bruce White expressed his gratitude and recognized the hard work of the committee and all those participating. The generous funds raised by Go Pink provide much-needed support to local patients and their families.

Breast cancer prevention and treatment, along with breast health awareness, are critical issues in our local community. One in eight women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer within their lifetime, and the disease also affects men.   If you are interested in supporting local patients, please contact The Foundation for KCH at 740.393.9085.
