11 Guilty and Two Sentenced in Mount Vernon Municipal Court

MOUNT VERNON –Judge John Thatcher found eight guilty and sentenced two people
after arraignments and hearings were held in the Mount Vernon Municipal Court on
January 17, 2023.


Ashley Ashbrook, 29 of Alexandria, was found guilty of Disorderly Conduct. The Court
sentenced her to pay a $200 fine.


Brian Bethea, 20 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Failing to Properly Display a
Valid Registration. The Court sentenced him to pay a $15 fine.


Jesus Bustos, 32 of Columbus, was found guilty of Driving without a Valid Operator’s
License and Not Having a License Plate Light. The Court sentenced him to pay a $200
fine for the Invalid License charge and a $15 fine for the License Plate Light charge.


Hailey Clark, 20 of Newark, was found guilty of Failing to Stop at a Stop Sign. The
Court sentenced her to pay a $35 fine.


John Lengacher, 47 of Utica, was found guilty of Speeding in a School Zone. The Court
sentenced him to pay a $50 fine.


Jason Truxall, 51 of Vermilion, was found guilty of Speeding in a School Zone. The
Court sentenced him to pay a $75 fine.


Isaac Glancy, 47 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Operating a Bicycle without a
Plate Light. The Court sentenced him to pay a $15 fine.


Jakob Elkins, 23 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of two counts of Theft and one
count of Possession of Drug Abuse Instruments. The Court sentenced him to serve 75
days in jail concurrently and to pay $26 in restitution to the victim for the first count of
Theft. A restitution hearing is scheduled for January 24, 2023 to determine how much
money is owed to the victim for the second count of Theft.

Ryan Schonauer, 47 of Howard, was found guilty of Violating a Protection Order on
December 13, 2022. Today he was sentenced to serve 60 days in jail.


James Boysel, 61 of Mount Vernon, was found guilty of Aggravated Menacing on
December 20, 2022. Today he was sentenced to serve 180 days in jail, with 157 days
suspended, and was placed on two years of probation.


Assistant Director of Law, Steven Thomas D. Potts, represented the City of Mount
Vernon in the Elkins cases.


Assistant Director of Law, Brittany Whitney, represented the City of Mount Vernon in
the Schonauer case.


Director of Law, Rob Broeren, represented the City of Mount Vernon and the State of
Ohio in the remaining cases.

MOUNT VERNON – Judge John Thatcher found three guilty after trials were held in
the Mount Vernon Municipal Court on January 18, 2023.


Kristopher Poland, 25 of Fredericktown, was found guilty of Failure to Use Reasonable
Control. The Court sentenced him to pay a $50 fine.


Cullen Rogers, 62 of Akron, was found guilty of Driving Without a Seatbelt. The Court
sentenced him to pay a $30 fine.


Jonathan Culler, 24 of Mount Gilead, was found guilty of Reckless Operation. The Court
sentenced him to pay a $75 fine.


Assistant Law Director, Steven Thomas D. Potts represented the State of Ohio and the
City of Mount Vernon in the above cases.
