Oral, Head & Neck Screenings!

That Could Save Your LifeTen Minutes

(Oral, Head and Neck Screenings)

Just because you can’t feel it, doesn’t mean it isn’t there.  It is estimated that there will be more than 120,000 new cases of oral, head and neck cancer diagnosed this year.  Unfortunately, many Americans do not recognize the symptoms of these life-threatening diseases. However, there is hope; if diagnosed early these cancers can be more easily treated without significant complications, and the chances of survival greatly increase.

KCH and the staff of the Department of Specialty Care—ENT offer free screenings on Thursday, April 25 from 4-6 pm.  You must have an appointment and because there are a limited number of appointments, CURRENT patients of both Dr. Hetrick and Dr. Helming are asked not to participate.  Screenings will be done by Dr. Suzanne Helming and Britney McCullough, CNP. The screening is quick, painless and free, so call 740 393 5588 for your appointment.

Knox County Browns Backers – SBC @ SBC Tap Room
Apr 25 @ 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm

The first round of the NFL Draft used to be the Super Bowl for the Browns but not this year. Just because we don’t have a pick in the top ten for the first time in years doesn’t mean we can’t get together to celebrate. And who knows, the Browns may trade back up into the first round.

We will be playing NFL Draft BINGO with some fabulous prizes so make sure you stop by the Knox County Browns Backers table to pick up your BINGO card.

For Cleveland/Ohio sports fans we will also have the Indians game on and the Blue Jackets if they are playing.

Dinner Theatre @ Alcove
Apr 26 @ 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm

Mount Vernon – Modern relationships have never been messier than for
Jake, a novelist who finds more success in his career than his life. The
award-winning Alcove Dinner Theater presents Neil Simon’s comedic
classic “Jake’s Women” .
This wildly comic and sometimes touching play features Jake’s flashbacks
about the women in his life – that are occasionally interrupted by the actual
women!  Jake's women include a revered first wife, Julie, who died years
earlier in a tragic accident; his daughter, Molly, who is recalled as a child
but is now a young woman; his boisterous and bossy sister, Karen; an
opinionated analyst, Edith; his current wife, Maggie, who is contemplating
her future with, or possibly without, Jake; and the newest arrival, Sheila, a
woman who just may be part of Jake's future.
The cast features Bruce Jacklin as Jake; Megan Evans as Maggie; Kathy
Strum as Karen; Megan Campbell as young Molly; Karly Jacklin as older
Molly; Cate Blair-Wilhelm as Edith; Abigail Tayse as Julie; and Jennifer
Walters as Sheila.
Veteran actress and MTVarts board president Susan Moreland directs the
show. She notes that “Jake’s Women” is considered one of Mr. Simon’s
hidden gems and that the cast for this production is proving very talented
at juxtaposing moments of high comedy and high drama.
“The show is both moving and funny, and takes you on an evening of
emotions,” Moreland said.  “I am really proud of this cast and how well
they navigate the moods and nuances of each character.”
Other members of the production team are set construction Joe Bell,
Lighting Designer Ian Ernsberger, and Sound Designer Rodney Cheek,
Costumes are Megan Evans, light and sound operator is Scott Swingle and
the stage manager is Kyle Boucher.
Show dates are April 5,6 and 19,20 and 26,27. Social hour is 6-6:30, Dinner
is 7:00 and the play begins immediately after dinner. The dinner menu has

Apr 27 @ 8:30 am – 4:00 pm

Join us at The Farm at Walnut Creek as a helicopter drops hundreds of eggs from the sky for an exciting twist on the traditional egg hunt!

Each time the eggs are dropped, the children are able to find the eggs in a field and redeem them by color to earn a prize. It is not important how many eggs you find but that you have eggs of all 5 colors. Every child will receive prizes. This event is for children ages 1-11 years old only. Parents of children who are ages 0-3 will be allowed to walk onto the egg drop field to assist their child.

We will have a giant corn box and scavenger hunt. Take a perfect Easter photo of your children holding rabbits and bunnies. Food will be available for purchase. Regular admission for this event will apply. Also, we will be doing horse drawn wagon rides. Regular admission for this event will apply. No need to make reservations. We will open at 8:30am and the first horse drawn wagon will depart from the horse barn at 9:00am.
We will be offering multiple egg drops every hour between 10:00am and 4:00pm. The last drop will be at 4:00pm.

The Farm hosts over 500 animals, comprised of species from six of the seven continents. Our menagerie includes exotic animals such as giraffes, camels, zebras, and kangaroos along with more common animals like horses, llamas, buffalos and deer. Also, all visitors will have the opportunity to view and hand-feed the animals from a conventional car or a horse-drawn wagon. You can also get close to some of the animals in our petting area.

We are a working farm and as such, the type of activities visitors may witness during a visit change with the seasons. Depending on the time of year, you may see plowing, thrashing, canning, quilting and more. You can tour our non-electric farm houses, buy produce at our farm stand, and take pictures of all that you see. The Farm is a fun and educational experience for people of all ages.
