“The Empowered Caregiver: Exploring Care and Support Services”

This session will be led by Joyce Thomas, LSW, a seasoned volunteer for the Alzheimer’s Association with more than 30 years of experience. Joyce has been actively involved with the Alzheimer’s Association since 1993 as a Caregiver Support Group Facilitator and Community Educator. Her deep understanding of caregiving challenges, combined with her compassionate approach, has provided countless caregivers with the tools and support they need to navigate complex decisions and care transitions.

In this program, Joyce will guide attendees through important topics related to caregiving, focusing on how caregivers can better plan for changes in their loved ones’ care. This free program offers crucial information on services provided by the Alzheimer’s Association that can assist families and individuals in making well-informed decisions about future care needs.

Topics in the Program Will Include:

  • Planning for Changes in Care Needs: How to identify and prepare for different stages in a senior’s health and care requirements.
  • Exploring Respite Care and Long-Term Care Options: Understanding the various types of respite, long-term care, and residential care available.
  • Transitioning Between Care Settings: Practical advice on moving a loved one from one care facility to another.
  • End of Life Care: What to consider when planning for end-of-life care decisions.

This session is a must-attend for caregivers who are seeking expert advice on how to ensure their loved ones receive the best care possible while balancing their own well-being. Attendees will walk away with valuable information to help prepare for future transitions and make empowered decisions in caregiving.
