Art at the Park to Showcase Local Artists in New Community Exhibition

Local artists will take center stage this summer as the Kokosing Valley Arts Alliance (KVAA) and the Knox County Convention & Visitors Bureau launch Art at the Park, a new community art competition and exhibition celebrating the creative talent found throughout Knox County and the surrounding area.

The exhibition opens with a public reception on Friday, July 10, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the historic CA&C Visitor Center, 501 South Main Street in Mount Vernon. The free event will feature live music by the Fat Tuesday Trio, food trucks and the opportunity to meet many of the participating artists.

The inaugural exhibition showcases artwork from artists of all ages and experience levels in three categories: 2-D, 3-D and Multimedia. Selected pieces will remain on display through August 16, transforming the visitor center into a gallery highlighting the region’s artistic community.

Visitors won’t just be able to admire the artwork—they’ll also help choose a winner. Throughout the exhibition, guests are invited to cast their ballots for the Community Choice Award, giving the public a chance to recognize their favorite pieces. Community Choice voting will continue through August 10, while additional awards will be presented by a panel of judges representing regional arts organizations.

Art at the Park is presented by the Kokosing Valley Arts Alliance in partnership with the Knox County Convention & Visitors Bureau and several local galleries, including Coleman Gallery, Pine Row Studios, Kudos Artists Co-op, The Annex at the Gund Gallery, and The Gallery on Gambier. Organizers say the goal is to create a new annual tradition that celebrates local artists while encouraging residents and visitors alike to experience the thriving arts community in Knox County.

Admission to both the opening reception and the exhibition is free. The CA&C Visitor Center is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., giving visitors several weeks to experience the artwork and support local artists.
