Founders Food Hall Celebrates Successful Grand Opening in Downtown Mount Vernon

Downtown Mount Vernon welcomed a new destination for dining, business and community collaboration as Founders Food Hall officially celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by community leaders, development partners and local residents.

The celebration marked the completion of the transformation of a historic downtown building into a vibrant mixed-use space that combines local food vendors, office space and entrepreneurial resources under one roof.

Representatives from JobsOhio, One Columbus and the Knox County Land Bank joined local officials for the ceremony, recognizing the partnerships that helped make the redevelopment possible. Following the ribbon cutting, guests toured the renovated building, met many of the businesses now located inside and enjoyed lunch while experiencing the new food hall firsthand.

The grand opening also celebrated the organizations that have established a presence in the building, including the HW Hub at Mount Vernon Nazarene University, Otto Insurance Group and Sponsler Automotive. Together, the businesses represent a blend of entrepreneurship, education and private investment that organizers say will contribute to the continued revitalization of downtown Mount Vernon.

The project was made possible through a collaboration of public, private and nonprofit partners, reflecting a shared vision of creating a space where people can gather, work, dine and connect in the heart of the city.

Throughout the afternoon, visitors filled the building to explore the newly renovated facility, meet business owners and sample offerings from the food hall. Community members praised the renovation and the addition of another destination that will help attract residents and visitors to downtown.

City and economic development leaders say Founders Food Hall represents more than the renovation of a historic building—it serves as another example of the momentum behind downtown Mount Vernon’s ongoing revitalization. By bringing together local businesses, entrepreneurs and community organizations in a shared space, the project is expected to support economic growth while creating a welcoming gathering place for years to come.
