MVNU Music Department showcasing scholarship recipients

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio — The Music Department at Mount Vernon Nazarene University will present some of the 2024-2025 music scholarship recipients in recital on Tuesday, Feb. 18, at 7:30 p.m. in Thorne Performance Hall in the R.R. Hodges Chapel/Fine Arts Center. A reception will follow. The community is invited to attend this free event.

The concert will feature several instrumental and vocal performances and will include a variety of musical styles. Participants include:

  • Logan Davis (Castalia, Ohio/Senior) is a Music Performance major. He studies voice with Mrs. Carrie Vail and participates in Una Voce Chamber Choir and Music Stage Production.
  • Emma Keyse (Newark, Ohio/Senior) is a General Music/Business Administration major. She studies percussion with Dr. Cary Dachtyl and participates in Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, Collegians Chorale, Chapel Band, and a Music & Ministry Team.
  • Joel Pettit (North Vernon, Ind./Senior) is a General Music major. He studies voice with Dr. Cynthia Mahaney and participates in Una Voce Chamber Choir.
  • Brianna Rider (Sugarcreek, Ohio/Junior) is a Speech-Pathology and Audiology/Business major and music minor. She studies violin with Dr. Juan Carlos Ortega and participates in String Ensemble and Chapel Band.
  • Nina Davis (Mason, Ohio/Junior) is a Worship Arts major. She studies voice with Mrs. Carrie Vail and participates in Una Voce Chamber Choir and Chapel Band.
  • Aidan Hamilton (Circleville, Ohio/Junior) is a Worship Arts/Christian Ministry major. He studies piano with Dr. JoAnn Koh-Baker and participates in Una Voce Chamber Choir.
  • Emily Howie (Chillicothe, Ohio/Junior) is a Chemistry major. She studies voice with Mrs. Carrie Vail and participates in Treble Singers Women’s Choir.
  • Rosalyn Johnson (Bucyrus, Ohio/Junior) is a Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology major and music minor. She studies saxophone with Dr. Gabrielle Valladares and participates in Symphonic Wind Ensemble.
  • Claire Vallance (Lexington, Ohio/Junior) is a Mechanical Engineering major. She studies French horn with Mrs. Sarah Jancura and participates in Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Knox County Symphony.
  • Kaden Canfield (Sandusky, Ohio/Sophomore) is a Mechanical engineering major. He studies french horn with Mrs. Sarah Jancura and participates in Symphonic Wind Ensemble.
  • Jalynn Diller (Bucyrus, Ohio/Sophomore) is a Music Education major. She studies clarinet with Dr. Gabrielle Valladares and participates in Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Flute Choir.
  • Christiana Schuler (Bethel, Ohio/Sophomore) is a General Music major. She studies voice with Mrs. Carrie Vail and participates in Una Voce Chamber Choir.
  • Moriah Tavenner (Urbana, Ohio/Sophomore) is a General Music and Mathematics major. She studies trumpet with Dr. John Packard and participates in Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, Pep Band, and Treble Singers Women’s Choir.
  • Ethan Throop (Xenia, Ohio/Sophomore) is a Nursing major. He studies piano with Dr. JoAnn Koh-Baker and participates in Jazz Band.
