Freddies, Blue Devils and Trojans pick up Week 1 wins

The Fredericktown Freddies are 1-0 after knocking off Highland for the first time since 2014 with a 30-28 victory in Week one. Quarterback Blake Sipes was 6 of 14 passing for 69 yards and 2 touchdowns with an interception. On the ground Sipes ran for 95 yards and 2 more scores on 21 carries. Elijah Roush ran 35 times for 173 yards and a touchdown. Gavin Toombs caught a pair of touchdowns.

The Danville Blue Devils were winners over Worthington Christian 50-21. The Blue Devils were led on the ground by Aiden Burke with 23 carries for 145 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also had 1 catch for 39 yards that went for a score. Josh Byers had 13 tackles on defense and totaled 84 yards on offense and Blake Colopy made 14 tackles on defense.

East Knox fell in a close game to Northridge 8-7. Jaxon Lester threw a 68 yard touchdown pass to Logan Clark for the Bulldogs only score. The Vikings scored on a safety and an 8 yard touchdown run.

Centerburg defeated Utica 21-6. Trevin Harris had a pick 6 for the Trojans and Blane Ball threw a 23 yard touchdown pass to Isaiah Sule and Miles Marshall had a rushing score in the Trojans victory.

Mount Vernon fell to Marion Harding 31-27. The President’s defense held MV to 74 yards rushing as Dakota Stafford had 76 of his team-high 79 yards rushing in the first half. Jake Taylor finished 11-for-22 passing for 234 yards after going 5 of 10 for 68 yards in the first half. Taylor ran a pair of 1 yard touchdowns in and threw a touchdown pass to Luke Hubbard. Gabe Montoya had a pair of field goals for the Jackets.
