Green Space to fill where Centerburg’s Intown Restaurant was Demolished

In a significant development for Centerburg, a blighted building that had become a community hazard was recently demolished. The local land bank, which took ownership last year of the InTown Restaurant Building, confirmed that the building’s severe structural issues, including collapsed floors and a roof partly caved-in, made restoration impractical. Originally, plans aimed to convert this space into a parking lot, but the layout constraints led to a change of course. Now, the site where the structure once stood will serve as a green space, providing a temporary oasis for the community.

As Centerburg looks to a brighter future, the land bank is proactively seeking innovative proposals that could permanently transform this centrally located plot. The move underscores a strategic approach to urban development, focusing on enhancing livability and economic vitality. This repurposed site not only represents a step towards enhancing the town’s aesthetic but also invites community members and developers to envision and contribute to what could be a defining piece of Centerberg’s urban landscape. This proactive transformation marks a hopeful chapter in the town’s ongoing efforts to revitalize and redefine itself.
